Are You Truly Living Or Stayin' Alive?

Watching the movie Saturday Night Fever had me thinking am I living or just staying alive? The Bee Gee’s said,
“life goin’ nowhere/somebody help me/somebody help me, yeah/I’m stayin’ alive.
I had to ask myself whether I was living my life to the fullest or working to survive? I refuse to believe that we were created to work, pay bills, take care of family, and then die.
Yes, I’m alive but am I living? I would have these self-imposed negative thoughts that I could never truly be happy or have the life I want to live. It seems easier to stay in stagnant energy rather than disciplining myself enough to switch directions towards happiness.
Meaning, moving towards a better life isn’t straightforward, nor is it readily available to you. It takes more work than we usually want to put the effort towards. I’ve always wanted to do what sets my soul on fire, but people with a gypsy soul are often despised. I don’t see anything wrong with following your heart, and I guarantee that my life would be more content and free-spirited if I took that route.
If you don’t follow the status quo, you get labeled as rebellious or unorthodox. It doesn’t make sense when we’re all unique and authentically made, so shouldn’t we all have different goals, ambitions, ideas, interests, and executions?
We live in a society that has trained us to live a mundane life. Work, school, family, friends, religion, sports, and politics are what our lives tend to revolve around. We have to “escape reality” to experience excitement or find our way back to stability.
We should be able to live life and enjoy it at the same time. Sometimes we dream of having a better life but don’t make any changes to revive the narrative of our story.
I feel like we have a hard time letting loose and enjoying the flow because of the judgment we might receive from others for doing so. When there is no direction or control over how the life of our dreams will go, we give up and keep telling ourselves that we will never get there.
Basically, if I want to feel alive in my life, I have to take the risks that come with making dreams a reality with a “mamba mentality (fearlessly).” I can’t fantasize about it; I have to pursue it wholeheartedly and be patient with the outcome. There is more soul fulfillment when you're doing what you're passionate about rather than living a worldly life.
