Opening Your Heart Can Open Up The Flood Gates To New Opportunities

Rewatching the movie Titanic had me thinking about flowing like the heart of the ocean and seeing where the tides take you. Sometimes we have a set plan for how our life will turn out before we even step a foot into adulthood. We tend to stay closed off from spontaneity and new adventures because changing course doesn’t align with how we think our life should be or is entirely out of our comfort zone.

Thinking back on my life, I realized that some of the most incredible memories and moments came from stepping away from controllable situations and letting everything flow like the wind. The most enjoyable times are when I let my inner child come out to play while expressing my true nature and character.

At times, we have external influences and expectations that can heavily impact our choices about our life path. Sometimes we get accustomed to a lifestyle that’s not fulfilling but agreeable. It’s like our insides are screaming and yearning to be who we are and enjoy life to the fullest, but our outside wants to continue to display a picture-perfect image.

Just because the life someone else chose to live worked for them doesn’t mean that it will work for you. If we follow others’ visions of our life, it can cause our beliefs to be limited, and we start to avoid taking leaps of faith towards our true desires.

“What will they think?” is a question I am sure most of us ask ourselves before we make a decision, but what about what you think? We can either sink holding on to a facade or float on by satisfying our soul’s aspirations. Once you start sailing forward and have an eye-opening experience, it won’t be easy to turn back around to the past.

Sometimes being logical isn’t the answer to what the heart wants.

Maneuvering through life with an open heart can provoke fear, but it can also lead you to a new life, a changed perspective, and self-discovery. You will never know what will come of it unless you make an effort by shooting your shot. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” said Michael Scott, and I couldn’t agree more.

Celine Dion said, “Love can touch us one time and last for a lifetime” in the song “My Heart Will Go On.” Meaning one loving experience can open up the flood gates to new opportunities and change your life trajectory forever. In the process of following your heart, you can discover who you are and who you’ve always wanted to be. All we have to do is release the fear and take a gamble. It just might be the ticket that changes your entire existence.
